Want to manipulate your PDF files and do not have aceess to the entire Adobe Acrobat software? Well, you need not despair. Adolix Split and Merge PDF, a free handy utility allows you to take charge and customize your PDF files after its creation. So what exactly does this tool do? As its name entails, Adolix allows two specific functions, splitting and merging of your PDF files. Similar to Word printing, you can merge and split PDF documents into a number of files.

Splitting and merging are quite simple with this tool. For splitting a document, you are offered a pattern based choice. This allows you to identify the pages similar to how you would view them while using the Print function in MS Word. So you can choose to split a file with equal number of pages or provide a range for splitting the PDF document for example splitting ten pages of a document into five documents. In addition you can enter passwords for encrypted PDFs, choose the target directory, and set a naming convention for tile. Keying in command line arguments to the tool allows the advanced user much better customization for their splitting and merging needs and even embed the content in the explorer context menu.

For merging the documents, users need to simply create an output file in the same order as the input file list. Change the list sequence by Up Down arrows featured beside the file list. The tool also allows you to mix PDF files that is take a page from each PDF file or create custom groups.

While Adolix free tool is touted as being free of limitations this is actually not true. It cannot merge more than five documents at a time while the splitting of the PDF documents is limited to a paltry fifty pages. However despite this flaw, Adolix continues to be quite a powerful tool, giving users much more control over their PDF documents.
