Changing The Nofollow Attribute To Dofollow In The Blogger’s Blog

Blogger templates are planned such that one can add nofollow properties to all hyper-links in the comments section. A nofollow tag prevents many search engines from pursuing blog links. Initially the nofollow property was enforced to keep away spammers. If a user wishes to receive many comments on their blogs and encourage their readers to take part in their on-going discussions, then they have to make their comments division as dofollow.

By changing the comments division to dofollow, one authorizes all spiders to pursue their blog’s links. This is similar to providing a link back to the entire blog. This will certainly get more visitors and brings more comments. More comments on the blog is like showcasing how active the blog is, and also encouraging the readers to be inter-active as their comments are very valuable.

Steps to make a user’s blog comment section dofollow:

To make the comments division as dofollow, a user has to edit the blog’s template. Before doing this, ensure that a backup of the entire blog is made. This backup is very much needed if something goes wrong while changing the template.

  • Sign in to the blog from blogger’s dashboard.
  • Browse Layout, select edit html, select expand widgets template option.
  • Open the template and locate the code provided below in the template.

<dl id=’comments-block’>
<b:loop values=’data:post.comments’var=’comment’>
<dt class=’comment-author’expr:id=’”comment-” +’>
<a expr:name=’”comment-”’/>
<b:if cond=’data:comment.authorUrl’>
<a expr:href=’data:comment.authorUrl’ rel=’nofollow’><></a>

A red colored code which is in bold font is displayed. The code is rel = ‘nofollow’. This code adds nofollow properties to a user’s blog. Now delete this cipher from the template. Save this template by clicking save changes option. This completes deleting the nofollow attribute from the blog.

The changed attribute can be made known to the entire blogging community by displaying the dofollow attribute on the sidebar of the blog.

Steps to follow to display dofollow option on the sidebar of a blog:

Sign in to the blog from blogger’s dashboard, and then browse to Layout, select page elements, choose add a gadget, select html /javascript. Now, type in the below mentioned line in the widget box.

  • All the comments listed on the users’ blog are dofollow
  • All the comments are controller or moderated.
  • Spamming will not be tolerated.

Save the changes made on the widget and later place them below the sidebar. This completes the process of displaying from nofollow to dofollow attribute in the comments division on the sidebar.

The no follow tagline has been successfully removed from the blog and made the same as dofollow. Few people are of the opinion that making the comment division as dofollow would harm their SERP and PR related issues. There are many dofollow blogs with more than 6 as their PR and are doing very good. It is a wise thought to obtain many comments on the blog by changing to dofollow.
