I have three laptops, a Compaq Presario V3000, HP 6510b and a A-105 S8424 Notebook and all three had a common problem. The problem was – When I open ‘Volume Controls‘ and check under Recording Option, ‘Stereo Mix/Wave Out’ option would be missing.
My systems thrive on RealTek HD Audio. I downloaded the latest drivers from RealTek site and installed them, replacing the older ones, but nothing seemed to work out. The solutions listed below should work :
1> Go to your Control Panel –> Sound
2> Select ‘Recording’ tab and you’ll find a list of devices, right click on those devices
3> If Stereo mix is not disabled at the hardware level, then it’ll show up. Set it as default and start using it.
You can refer this link for more info.
4> Get an Audio Splitter. Audio splitter will have input jack at one end and two output jacks at the other end, something like the image shown below:
5> Get a double ended audio jack as shown below:
6> Plug the audio jacks to the two output jacks of Audio Splitter and plugin the input jack of Audio splitter to mic input.
This will fix the missing ‘Stereo Mix/Wave Out’ problem in your laptops. In case, this doesn’t solve your problem, read the related post.
