If you are a die-hard Harry Potter fan, and have a blog about the novel, character, or the movies – then you are bound to be in the need of special fonts that have that extra Harry Pottery feel to them. Be it an occasional lightning bolt, or a gothic type Hogwarts font – there are a range of specially designed Harry Potter fonts that will add that extra edge to your blog, fan site, poster, or anything else that you might want to create that has to do with the world of witchcraft and wizardry.

Here is a list of popular Harry Potter fonts (created by fans) available for free download. You don’t need to rack your brains on a font generator to create your own HP fonts anymore.

Lumos

A popular Harry Potter freeware font quite similar to the Ablefont by Marcus Burlile, that figures on the promotional cover of the US edition HP7. Lumos only supports capital letters.

Parseltoungue

Based on the serpent font typeface used on the cover of the second HP novel, Parseltongue was released on 2001, and is a popular headline-type font.Although it supports only capitals, the letters have an extra flavor when written in uppercase.

Harry Potter

This font is designed on the ‘Harry Potter’ typeface that appears in almost all the US editions of the HP novels, and looks very much the same.

Besides these, there are several other fonts out there – such as Milky Way, Starry Night, Parry Hotter, ES Potter, Magical Me (Parry Hotter), Moonstar, Magik, Magdeburg, Hogwarts Wizard, Hagrid, Troll Bait, Hogwarts Outline, and Harry Potter Glasses. Each of these have a unique HP touch to them.

All those who are looking for what The Hogwarts Acceptance Letter is all about, the answer is …

The Hogwarts Acceptance Letter is a letter of acceptance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry sent to British wizards and witches prior to their first year at Hogwarts. A special quill exists which writes down the name of every magical child in Britain  at the time of their birth, allowing Hogwarts letters to be sent to all magical children at the appropriate time, even those who are Muggle-born. The Hogwarts letter consists of a note of acceptance from the Deputy Headmaster or Headmistress of Hogwarts and a list of required textbooks and materials for the school year.

The letter is written in emerald green ink on parchment paper and delivered to the recipient by owl, except in the case of Muggle-borns and magical children living with Muggles (such as Harry Potter), where the initial acceptance letter is delivered by the regular Muggle post. Hogwarts is able to magically tell whether or not a child has read his or her Hogwarts letter, as evidenced by the bombardment of 4 Privet Drive with letters, despite at least one of them having been opened and read by Vernon and Petunia Dursley.
