I have broadband internet speed at home, and I was very curious to check what my Broadband’s Internet speed was. I wanted to check if my ISP (Internet Service Provider) was claiming true numbers.
I used SpeedTest.net which is free, to find my internet broadband connection speed. You can check your internet speed too using SpeedTest. Here’s the procedure :
1> Go to http://www.speedtest.net/ and click on ‘Your Results‘ at the top of the page.
2> You’ll find ‘View Results For‘ text box, which mostly will be filled automatically, if not enter your Current IP there and Click on Test Again.
3> You’ll be taken to a page which will look something like this :
4> Click on any location whose physical distance from your place is the shortest and the test begins automatically.
5> Try different servers in and around your place and collect information.
After a couple of tests, when you have collected enough information click on ‘Your Results‘ again and you’ll get a consolidated result which will be something like this :
6> You can find your test summary from ‘Your Summary‘ page.
Another way is to use Internet Cyclone that will optimize automatically and increases the internet speed.
It can be downloaded from http://www.jordysoft.com/icyclone/internet-cyclone.aspx
