I’ve already covered the topic explaining how to hide whos amung us statistics to public.

That post was about a year ago, and things have changed on whos.amung.us . Earlier they would allow you to get your code in two versions:

1> Plain HTML version, and

2> JavaScript version.

However, now you get only the JavaScript version and this brings in a bit of difficulty when you want to hide your stats from the rest of the world.

First, the golden question: Why should I hide my stats from the outside world? I love showing off!!

Showing is good, but at the cost of revealing where your visitors are on your site ? In a nutshell, you’ll be revealing the popular pages on your website. Now think about this, isn’t it an open invitation for your competitors to come up with posts on similar topic ? Food for thought now!

Argh, now that you have been thinking, want to know how you can hide your whos.amung.us stats from the world, but you still continue to garner stats for your personal needs?

There are two ways you can do it:

1> Subscribe to their paid version. That’s the best I’d suggest. No hassles, and complete privacy.

2> Copy the code below, and insert your Whos.amung.us code where it says Insert code here. Put up this code anywhere in your theme, and it’ll work fine. This is not a fool proof method. You’ll manage to hide to stats from public while you still will have access to the stats. However, remember that anyone with some basic programming / web designing skill will still be able to pull out statistics.

Let me know if you know any better ways to hide the statistics.

  1. @Nick – Have you followed the instruction in the second part, ie, for the Javascript. It should not fail, I’m very sure it definitely will work as expected.
