It was when GeoHot released Limera1n out of the blue, that Chronic Dev Team decided to bring out the GreenpoisOn tool to jailbreak iOS 4.1. It has the ability to jailbreak iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G and iPad. Although scheduled to be launched on 10/10/10. It was delayed on account of the sudden release of Limera1n.
Earlier, it was worked out that the GreenpoisOn Jailbreak Tool would utilize SHAtter BootRom exploit, but now it will be using the GeoHot’s exploit, same as in Limera1n. The Dev team decided to save the Shatter exploit so that they could use it in their next version of GreenpoisOn to jailbreak 4.2.
There is one noteworthy point however, that if you depend on iPhone Unlock, it is advisable to move away from this jailbreak.
By following simple steps, it is possible to successfully obtain this exploit:
Download GreenpoisOn for Windows.
Power off your iPad and connect it to your computer and launch greenpoisOn.
Click ‘Prepare to Jailbreak [DFU]’ button on greenpoisOn
Follow the steps shown on the greenpoisOn window to put your iPad in the DFU mode.
Press and hold the sleep button for 2 seconds.
Continue holding sleep; press and hold home for 10 seconds.
Release sleep button; continue holding home for 15 seconds.
Once greenpoisOn completes your iPad jailbreak, it displays the message, ‘jailbreak complete!’
Just restart your iPad and you will find the loader icon on the springboard.
Hit the loader icon and install Cydia.
You now have a jailbroken iPad touch 4G or iPod Touch 3G, if your procedure is completed properly.
