Resolve the Issue Related To Error In Pinning Programs To Windows 7 Taskbar
Windows 7 allows you to pin programs and shortcuts to the Taskbar. However, occasionally you might get an error while trying to drag and drop a program to the Taskbar/ Start Menu. The program icon will show a red colored cross while you try to drop it onto the Taskbar/ Start Menu.
Moreover, if you right-click on the icon, you will notice that the options for pinning programs to Taskbar/ Start Menu are missing. As another effect of this error, you may not get any Jump List on right-clicking an icon in the Taskbar.
You will generally get this error in Windows 7 if you have used a registry trick and removed the registry key “IsShortcut” from the system registry in order to remove the shortcut arrow from the icons.
To resolve this issue you simply need to go to the Registry Editor and add the registry key “IsShortcut” back to the extension “.lnk” (also to other extensions if necessary) to restore or reset the registry values back to the original state.
However, if you wish to remove the shortcut arrows from the icons and still pin them to Windows 7 Taskbar, you need to use a different technique.
