Security issues with WordPress 2.7.1 “Tandbleking” ?

Techbuzz currently runs on wordpress 2.7.1 . When I was trying to add a new widget to the sidebar, I noticed something strange :

Security issues with Wordpres 2.7.1 "Tandbleking" ?

A link to a swedish site ?? I have never linked to someone who I don’t know and I think twice before linking back to a site totaly out of scope of my website. This definitely is a security leak in wordpress, though I haven’t yet gotten to the bottom of this.

Here are some shocking facts about this site.

1> This site was registered about 2 months ago, that is in December 2008.

2> The site has more than 600 incoming links !!

3> The particular page, to which my site was linking has in excess of 1800 links !! Mostly from WordPress blogs …

I suggest those on WP 2.7.1 to have a look at their widgets ..

    COuld you please add more detailed information Gautam? Have you reported to the wordpress ticket support? This should be reported ASAP to prevent more spreading attack. I wonder if the cause is one of your plug in.

    I know this is an old post, but what theme are/were you using? It’s likely that the link could be hidden in your theme.
