Steps to edit registry key in Vista or XP Operating System

Before continuing with the tutorial on the steps to edit registry key, one thing that all should always bear in mind that it is a very complicated and delicate area of the operating system. If you don’t have the slightest of knowledge about regkey then don’t go any further, just exit from it.

Steps to edit registry key in Windows XP operating System:

  • Go to start option from Taskbar
  • Click on run
  • Then type regedit in the blank box
  • Press enter key
  • A window will open named  Registry Editor
  • Click on sub registry key and check its value on right side pane.
  • Change the value after you double click on it.
  • Your work is complete

 

Steps to edit registry key in Windows Vista Operating System:

  • Click on the Start Menu from the Taskbar
  • Type regedit
  • Click on Search Results
  • Click on sub registry key and check its value on right side pane.
  • Change the value after you double click on it.
  • Your work is complete

 

You can also take a backup of the regkey before moving forward with the editing.
