What is the age limit for CSAT 2011?

I just got a few mails asking me what the age limit is, for taking up CSAT in 2011 ?

Let me tell you that only the pattern of examination has changed for Civil Services Preliminary Exams, and there is no other change, either in the format, or in the structure, or the age criteria.

Therefore, the age limit for CSAT 2011 is :

Minimum 21 years forall candidates,(as on 1-8-2011),
Maximum 30 years for General Candidates. 33 years for Backward Classes I BC – M / MBC / DNC and 35 years for Scheduled Castes,Arunthathiyars and Scheduled Tribes

  9. Thanks Gautam…yet I’m not applied for the exams so I think I’m not eligible to take UPSC CSAT exams…is there any chance tht nxt Govt will increase age relaxations? if yes means, when will it happn? n how we will get to know?…

  10. @Viswa – Have you applied for the exams yet, or yet to apply ? If you have not applied, I’m sorry to inform that the last date is over, and you’ll not be able to apply now. An for next year, I doubt if you qualify based on age relaxations. Check next years notification, which will be released in the month of Jan / Feb -2012, for confirmation.

  11. hi, my DOB is 27-11-1977, am I eligible to take UPSC CSAT 2011 exams?…I belong to the Backward Class(BC)…plz help me!!…

  12. @Sanjay – Physically handicapped candidates do have relaxation. But depends on the degree and case. It’s mentioned in the notification.

  13. I was born on 5-7-1981, on 1st august i shall be in 30. i am physically challenged. is there any relaxation for the physically challenged candidates.

  14. MrMuse – There is good news for you. Though there is no way you can make amendments to your previous application, you can go ahead and apply afresh. You’ll get both the hall tickets, make sure you use the one which has ‘English’ as the medium of written examination. Do not use the other one. This will solve your problem. Hope this helps.

    Cheers!

  15. @Mr.muse – There was a corrigendum announced in paper by UPSC in the news papers relating to this mistake. I guess you have to call UPSC and find out what you can do, or give me sometime so that I can contact a few people who I know so that I can inform you about the same.

  16. hi,
in the new form for civil services prelims examination, there’s a column for ‘medium of written examination’. i wanted to choose english, but when i checked the notification, there was no code available for the english language and codes were given only for the Indian languages, and i’d no choice but to choose hindi. but at the same time, when i went through the online application, there’s the provision for choosing english. is there any way by which i can change or make amends?

  17. My date of birth is 23/10/1983. I belong to the General Category.
With respect to the deadline of age 30 before 1st August of the year where I might be appearing for the exam – I would like to know how many attempts do I have? Is it 2 or 3?

    Confused.

    Kindly clarify.

  18. @Saravanan – If you belong to OBC category, upper age limit is 33 years, which means you can try for two more years, provided you’ve not exhausted your 7 attempts.

    All the best,

  22. I have heard that the age limit for the open student for upsc becomes 25 is it true or give me more information

  23. @Shyju – There is no special relaxation for CSAT, I guess. Please re-check on that one. The age limit has not been changed as of now. We’ll know about it only once the notification comes out. The 3 years limit you are talking about, I guess is for OBC candidates. Please re-check on that.

    Best,
