UPSC CSAT 2011 Age Limit?

October 30, 2010 by Gautam

What is the age limit for CSAT 2011?

I just got a few mails asking me what the age limit is, for taking up CSAT in 2011 ?

Let me tell you that only the pattern of examination has changed for Civil Services Preliminary Exams, and there is no other change, either in the format, or in the structure, or the age criteria.

Therefore, the age limit for CSAT 2011 is :

Minimum 21 years forall candidates,(as on 1-8-2011),
Maximum 30 years for General Candidates. 33 years for Backward Classes I BC – M / MBC / DNC and 35 years for Scheduled Castes,Arunthathiyars and Scheduled Tribes

Please post your other queries in the comment box below.

  20. Gautam says

@Viswa – Have you applied for the exams yet, or yet to apply ? If you have not applied, I’m sorry to inform that the last date is over, and you’ll not be able to apply now. An for next year, I doubt if you qualify based on age relaxations. Check next years notification, which will be released in the month of Jan / Feb -2012, for confirmation.

MrMuse – There is good news for you. Though there is no way you can make amendments to your previous application, you can go ahead and apply afresh. You’ll get both the hall tickets, make sure you use the one which has ‘English’ as the medium of written examination. Do not use the other one. This will solve your problem. Hope this helps.

    Cheers!

  25. Gautam says

    March 4, 2011 at 8:06 pm

@Mr.muse – There was a corrigendum announced in paper by UPSC in the news papers relating to this mistake. I guess you have to call UPSC and find out what you can do, or give me sometime so that I can contact a few people who I know so that I can inform you about the same.

    hi,
in the new form for civil services prelims examination, there’s a column for ‘medium of written examination’. i wanted to choose english, but when i checked the notification, there was no code available for the english language and codes were given only for the Indian languages, and i’d no choice but to choose hindi. but at the same time, when i went through the online application, there’s the provision for choosing english. is there any way by which i can change or make amends?

    Confused.

  29. Gautam says

    February 22, 2011 at 12:07 am

@Saravanan – If you belong to OBC category, upper age limit is 33 years, which means you can try for two more years, provided you’ve not exhausted your 7 attempts.

@Shyju – There is no special relaxation for CSAT, I guess. Please re-check on that one. The age limit has not been changed as of now. We’ll know about it only once the notification comes out. The 3 years limit you are talking about, I guess is for OBC candidates. Please re-check on that.

    Hi,

My birth date is 16th June 1977. I belong to OBC category, though am yet to obtain a creamy layer certificate. I understand that for CSAT there is a relaxation of 3 years on upper age limit and is calculated as on 1st Aug 2011. Am I eligible to apply ? If yes, then when shd i need to produce the creamy layer certificate. I need to give it a go in the new format.
