Using Session Manager Add-on for Mozilla Firefox
The worst part about having your Firefox web browser crash suddenly is that all the tabs you had opened get lost in the process. [This is not true for the latest versions however.] Thus, if you are using an earlier version of Firefox, you have no way to protect your currently opened tabs against a browser crash. This article will tell you how you can bypass this issue with the help of a simple add-on that you can install on Firefox.
Here is what you have to do.
- Run Firefox as usual.
- Type in the following URL in the address bar and press Enter.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2324 - Click on the prominent Download Now button.
- In the Firefox pop-up that shows, click on the Install Now button.
- After the installation is complete, you should restart Firefox.
That is all – after this add-on is installed, you will never lose the details of any Firefox session – even if it crashed suddenly without warning. The way to use this add-on is that whenever you have a browser crash, simply run Firefox once again and navigate to Tools -> Session Manager from the main browser window.
In this tab, you will see a heading called Closed Windows which will list out all the windows that had been closed suddenly and without proper warning.
This add-on has several other uses as well – it lets you save Firefox sessions so that you can access them later. You can also create backups of sessions that you think are critical. Further, you can even encrypt the session data and then save it. You can also customize the application by setting the time interval after which it stores session data.
However, if you are facing browser crashes quite frequently, you should probably consider trying to fix the problem as it certainly is not normal for Firefox to crash every now and then.
